Risk management
Risk identification and analysis workshop
At an early stage in the development of the proposed Hunter Downs irrigation scheme (covering the area between the Waitaki and Pareora Rivers in South Canterbury) we developed the context (including risk criteria) for, and facilitated a risk workshop on the proposed scheme.
The workshop provided the opportunity for the proposed scheme developer, Meridian Energy, and a broad cross section of the stakeholders involved to contribute to identifying and assessing risks for the proposal.
Benefits achieved from the workshop included:
- The risk and benefits from alternative options for the scheme were placed on a common basis
- An understanding of the risks and benefits from the scheme was extended to a broad range of stakeholders in the proposed project
- Providing a sound basis on which to proceed with development of the scheme
Risks identified in this early stage workshop are now being progressively addressed by stakeholders in the scheme and the development looks likely to proceed on a largely agreed basis.
