Strategic planning

Isn’t strategic planning all about long-winded talkfests and boring lengthy documents that don’t have much to do with making the organisation work better?

Our answer is no, it doesn’t have to be like that.

We draw on our broad experience to help make your strategic planning relevant, meaningful and lead to actions really happening.

We start by working with you to determine who needs to be involved and how.

We make sure you have the right information and understandings for those people to work effectively together. We make a point of doing our homework so we fully understand your business environment.

We then design a process that is workable and engaging for your board, management and team members.

We prefer shorter sharper brainstorming sessions and workshop processes that do not interfere with ‘business as usual’ to get the results you need. We prefer to work with what you already have in place rather than 'reinventing the wheel'.

The true test is how workable your plan is in action. So we always suggest working through from the big picture to the specifics of what needs to happen when and how.

The best plans are ‘work in progress’ that can be revised and refreshed as your circumstances change. So we provide you with the tools and techniques for refreshing and adapting you plans as you need to.

Our experience

Our pragmatic strategic planning approach has evolved from dealing with the complex world of government funded organisations as well as the commercial imperatives of the business world.

We have helped companies as diverse as small professional firms, business groups within large consultancies and SMEs work out what they are about, where they want to go, and how to get there.

We have assisted government agencies and local authorities with their strategic direction and the often complex task of working together to achieve joint long term goals.

We have worked extensively with research and academic communities to develop new directions in areas such as postgraduate training and health related research.

Members of our team have also aided volunteer run professional societies and not for profits with developing goals and strategic directions and with turning these into workable and measurable objectives.
